Rendona Emulsion Paint
Water based interior paint, with a chalky matt finish, suitable for walls and ceilings. Can be applied by brush or roller. Will dry in 2 to 4 hours. Coverage per litre approx 12 square metres. Environmentally friendly with minimal VOC content.
• Before Use
Make sure that the surface to be painted is clean and dry. New plaster should be completely dry.
Loose or flaking paint should be rubbed off and any dirt or grease washed off. New or porous surfaces such as plasterboard which are very absorbent are often difficult to paint, add up to 10% clean water and stir in, then apply as a base coat.
When opening the paint remove any skin that may have formed and stir if necessary. Please note - this is a solvent free water based product and therefore may have difficulty adhering to vinyl or oil based surfaces. It is therefore advisable to sand such surfaces before applying this paint, otherwise more than two coats will be required.
• How to Use
When using Rendona chalky matt emulsion paint application can be made by brush or roller.
It is not recommended to thin this paint down.
Apply one or two coats and allow at least a two hour drying period between the applications, longer if weather conditions are cold.
Use on radiators or other heated surfaces is not recommended.
Wash brushes and rollers in cold water after use.
Rendona Eggshell Paint

will all porous surfaces such as plasterboard an undercoat of watered down emulsion is recommended as a base coat for Eggshell.
Loose or flaking paint should be rubbed off and any dirt or grease washed off.
Any existing paint on wood work should be rubbed down and an undercoat of water based emulsion should be applied.
Please note - this is a solvent free water based product and therefore may have difficulty adhering to vinyl or oil based surfaces. It is therefore advisable to sand such surfaces before applying this paint, otherwise more than two coats will be required.

Patina - Antique Bronze Effect
To create this amazingly realistic cast bronze effect you will need the following items: Black, Patina, and Gold or Bronze Paint, a paint brush and a damp cloth. The technique works most successfully on a textured surface such as the examples shown here.
• Paint your chosen ornament with a base coat of Black paint, ensure that you have covered all areas with an even coat.
•
Leave the Black paint to dry for at lease 2 hours or until paint is completely dry . Then using the Patina Paint quickly paint on a thin layer. Before the Patina paint is dry use the damp cloth to remove the patina except in the textured areas and the cracks.
•
Leave the remaining patina to dry, once this paint has dried you can then add the Gold or Bronze paint. Adding either the Gold or Bronze will give very different effects (see examples), alternatively you could combine the two colours together. This final Gold/Bronze layer should be applied with a dry brush, dip the brush into the paint then wipe of the excess before gently applying the paint over the raised area to give shimmering highlights.
Lead or Pewter Effect
To create this realistic effect you will need the following items: Black, Pewter-Grey and Silver paint and a paint brush. You can use this effect on almost any surface, however textured or patterned surfaces give the most effective results.
• Paint your chosen ornament with a base coat of Black paint, leave this to dry for at least 2 hours or until the paint is completely dry.
• You can then use a dry brush (i.e. Dip the brush into the paint, then wipe of the excess paint so very little paint remains on the brush) to add your layer of Pewter Grey paint over the texture and raised areas such as relief decoration or edges.
• By following the two steps above you will achieve a lead effect, if you want to add some Silver paint to further highlight the raised areas you achieve a more Metallic Pewter effect.
Brass Effect
To create this realistic effect you will need the following items: Black and Gold paint and a paint brush. As with the earlier examples this technique works most successfully on a textured surface.
• Paint your chosen item with a base coat of Black paint.
• Once the Black paint has completely dried, you should then, using a dry brush or sponge, add a thin layer of the gold paint over the textured areas. Keep adding layers of the Gold paint until the desired effect is achieved.
White Marble Effect
To create this subtle effect you will need the following items: White, Cream
or Gold and Dark Brown paint you will also need 1 very fine brush and 1 ordinary sized brush. This effect unlike most of the other effects works successfully on smooth surfaces.
• Give your chosen item an even coat of White paint. Then leave to dry.
• Once the White paint has dried you need to start adding the veins of marble. Using the Gold paint and a fine brush apply thin lines that cross
each other over the white. Leave to dry for a few minutes but before it has completely dried you should using a large clean dry brush smudge the lines to soften the edges of the veins.
• You should then repeat the process but this time use the cream paint as this adds depth to the marble detail.
• Add the final touches with the fine brush and the Dark Brown paint tracing the veins that you have already painted. Once again use a dry brush to soften the lines. These processes should be repeated until the desired
effect is achieved.
Granite Effect
To create this unusual effect you will need Granite paint plus any paint colours you wish to add and a paint brush. This is an acrylic based clear paint containing small particles that when applied to white or grey concrete gives a sparkling Granite effect. If you wish to colour the Granite paint you should use only a very small amount of colour then mix it in thoroughly. This paint works most successfully when used in conjunction with other colours. The gargoyle example shown here was created using the following techniques, however this paint can be used in a multitude of ways and it is advised that you experiment with it so its full potential can be achieved.
• Paint your Ornament with a layer of Granite paint, the gargoyle example shown here was painted with a mixture of Moss Green paint and Granite paint giving it a more interesting effect.
• Once this layer of paint had dried, to give definition to the detail, more
Moss Green paint was added into the textured areas such as its ears and eyes.
Chinese Lacquered Effect
To create this authentic effect you will need the following items: Black paint , Gold paint, a coloured paint, a damp cloth and a paint brush. For the example shown here the Dark Red paint has been used, however this technique also works well with Bright Green or Blue paint as a base colour.
• Paint your ornament with your base colour i.e. Dark Red, Blue or Bright Green then leave to dry.
• Once your base colour has dried you should then add the next layer of paint. Mix the Black paint with a small amount of water so that the paint is a little thinner, then apply the paint over the coloured base. This Black paint should then be immediately wiped of using a damp cloth so that the Black remains only in the textured/patterned areas.
• Once this has dried, depending on the effect you wish to achieve, some Gold paint could be added with a dry brush to highlight the raised areas.
Individual Creative Effects
Rendona water based acrylic paint can also be used to create individual effects. These paints can be painted in any combination to brighten up old terracotta pots, garden furniture, concrete planters and many other garden ornaments. It can also be a fun way for children to individualise there own plant pots.
Painting Terracotta Pots
• If the terracotta pot or planter is new it may have a shiny seal painted over the surface, this makes painting directly on to the pot difficult. To remove this, use a piece of sand paper to roughen the surface.
• Ensure the terracotta is dry and clear from grease before painting.
• Any of the effects demonstrated above can be used on the pots, however the paints can be used on their own to create very bright and colourful effects.
Cement Colours
Iron Oxide (Fe203) pigments are the most reliable, light fast and durable of pigments for use in cement.
We recommend use of our pigments by weight, never volume, and by using a percentage of the cement content of an overall mix. Percentages can be varied to obtain different levels of tinting or to vary the shades within a series of mixes to give a more natural effect, for instance, to an area of paving. Variation in colour shades can also be achieved by using grey or white cement, by using different coloured aggregates/sands, and by the amount of water added to the mix.
We recommend between 3 and 5% of pigment by weight of Ordinary Portland Cement. For example, 4% pigment by weight of a mix with a cement content of 50kg would require 2kg of pigment. Pigmentation above 7-8% of the cement content leads to minimal change in the depth of colour.
Pigments should preferably be added to a dry mix of the cement, sand and/or aggregate to shear the pigment, before adding water to the desired consistency and mixing as usual.
